Green Light Given to Clean-up Works on Multi-Million Regeneration of 120 acre Mixed Use Development Site in Derbyshire

The site, located in Bolsover at Junction 29a of the M1 is the former Coalite works and is being reclaimed in partnership between St Francis and iSec based on a mixed use and residential scheme.

Adjoining the established and successful Markham Vale development, planning consent has already been secured for up to 600,000 sq ft of employment space.

Commenting on the announcement, St Francis Development Director Gareth Williams said;

“Since this famous old site and manufacturing plant closed its doors back in 2004 it has been a long journey to get to this point. We first acquired the site back in 2012 in a joint venture with iSec and received planning permission some four years later to begin the site clean-up and create hundreds of new homes, public open space and jobs.

The beginning of these works serves as a huge boost of the local community and Bolsover, North East Derbyshire region and marks a key milestone”

Clean-up of the new site has started which has been funded in part by a £7.8 million grant received from Derbyshire County Council and D2N2 Local Enterprise partnership.
