Opening of new £16m link road heralds latest St Francis development
Silverwoods is the former British Sugar site which St Francis purchased in 2005.Since then and following an extensive remediation strategy and programme of regeneration works, including new road construction and improvement works, the scheme has delivered a range of high quality housing, extra care facilities, a relocated leisure centre and serviced land for employment uses and additional residential development.
Plots remain available for employment uses, trade counter, car dealerships, public house and additional residential development on a subject to planning basis.
The new £16million Link Road provides a vital link to the highway network between the A451 Stourport Road and A442 Worcester Road, was opened to motorists in September, 18 months after planners gave the scheme the go-ahead and will provide a considerable boost to Wyre Forest’s economy.
Investors, including representatives from Worcestershire County Council and Worcestershire Local Enterprise Partnership, recently gathered together with Gareth Williams, Development Director St Francis on the newly constructed bridge over the Staffordshire and Worcestershire Canal and River Stour to unveil a plaque to mark the road’s official opening.
The road is situated within the South Kidderminster Enterprise Park – one of the County’s four key employment sites.
Talking about the opening, Gareth Williams, Development Director at St Francis Group said
Gareth Williams, Development Director at St Francis Group
“The opening of this impressive new link provides a vital next step in the ongoing regeneration and development of Silverwood’s.
It opens access and traffic movements to and between Kidderminster, Stourport, Worcester and the south Kidderminster region and we are already seeing a positive difference.
We are actively promoting Kidderminster and the Wyre Forest as an attractive destination to do business and anticipate the new link road will play a key role in attracting additional investment into the region.”
