Project Overview

Nigg Yard has over 30 years of history of constructing major facilities for the offshore oil industry. It was established as a fabrication facility by Highlands Fabricators in 1972 and began building steel structures for the offshore industry in the early 1970s and over the decades the Yard has built some of the world’s largest oil rigs.

The Nigg Yard and Oil Terminal was built to service the construction and repair of the largest maritime structures and was a major facility for manufacturing oil and gas platforms.

The purchase followed the acquisition in 2010 of the adjacent 800 acre Dow Chemical’s site, enabling St Francis to promote both within this designated key regional economic development zone.
